this is the little burn that caused so much turmoil. (click on the picture to enlarge it, if you need to.) it is 3 days old and has healed a bit. this was the first day that jonah could even bare to look at it. i don't think it hurt at all after the first night, but i guess it just brought back painful memories to confront it face to face. the first night we put some medicine on it about which jonah kept crying, "it won't work! it won't work!" and in the morning when i tried to take the way oversized bandaid off, (it was as big as his entire belly) he wouldn't let me."but jonah, let's put a smaller bandaid on it," i argued, "the burn is a lot smaller than that."
"it will hurt if you take it off. big bellies need big bandaids, mama," he informed me.
so we've graduated now to no bandaid at all and can actually appreciate that it looks a little bit like a mysterious alien birthmark. he got it from the evil spaceheater with a metal waffle grid on the front. it is no longer welcome in the boys' room, even if it does get down to 60 degrees in there at night.

Aww, that is cute. Nasty evil space heater! (we have plastic ones from walmart - really cheap. 60 degrees is COLD!!)
Naw, that's not cold. When I was a kid the heat from the stove didn't ever reach the bedrooms and it was always anywhere between 5 to 20 degrees below zero outside. Sometimes mom heated up rocks or bricks and wrapped them and put them between the flannel sheet at the foot of the bed so we at least eventually had warm feet.
Johah I hope your owie burn heals real fast.
