kumbaya

i asked jonah yesterday what he would like to do when daddy got home. he said he wanted to have a camp out like bob the builder. "yes, let's." time to get you away from the television and outside.

so we made the preparations while we were waiting for joe to get home. pulled out the sleeping bags, the tent, the flashlights, and went to the store to get s'mores provisions. jonah held onto that bag of marshmallows like they were the last on the planet and asked about every 4 seconds if he could have one now.

we had just set up camp when daddy got there a little earlier than expected. while he got the campfire going, the boys went hunting for bears and owls with their flashlights. they even found a little cabin in the woods [the dog house] "where goldilocks probably lives". once the fire was roaring, they roasted their marshmallows for "marshmallow sandwiches with chocolate". while the s'mores were delicious, my little boys couldn't stand their hands being sticky, ikey wouldn't even eat it.

after my little anal retentive boys were all cleaned up, joe put their pj's on while i attempted a little around the campfire sing-a-long. totally unimpressed, jonah told me to stop singing and ikey just kept trying to take the guitar. okay then, bedtime. the boys fell asleep surprisingly fast! jonah slept inside his tent [that could barely fit his little self inside] with his trusty flashlight for a "goodnight light" and joe and ikey snoozed under the stars. or i should say moon, it was full last night and it was so bright you hardly noticed any stars. it was more like a spotlight. <--this picture was taken without a flash or any other lighting besides the moon. once the boys were in a good deep sleep, we took them inside and tucked them safely in their beds. mom's a little paranoid, i guess. and since we were in our backyard and not the woods, i didn't exactly find the hum of the police sirens all that serene, nor the giant mosquitos we have lurking around lately.

oh so fun. it's even inspired todd to have a campout. do you want to come over and be camp director? we'll even listen to your campfire songs.

That looks so fun! The cabin where Goldilocks lived looks a little sketchy--I'm sure large bears live there now. Good times, good Mom! How's the jeans goal coming?

sommer :: thanks!

rachel :: is it camping in your backyard or real camping? i really appreciate our kind of camping when i can then go inside and sleep on a soft, clean bed.

anna :: operation skinny jeans is still in progress, but looking positive. thanks for asking. down 5lbs. so far, now only 295 more to go. [i'm kidding btw. i know you haven't seen me in a while.]

What a fun time! Wow. Ry would be totally jealous - I think we'll have to try something of the like (once we get rid of the virtual ant-farm in our backyard of dirt :P)
