it's our wedding anniversary. not to be confused with our marriage anniversary which is actually july 12 and was celebrated like this: joe: hey, what's the date today?
me: uh...i think it's july elev- no, twelfth. i think it's the 12th.
joe: hmm.
[pause]
me: hey, it's our anniversary.
joe: is it? i guess it is. huh.
me: huh.
the year before joe made an attempt to remember our marriage anniversary by including it on the yearly calendar he had made for me as a new year's gift. it was a nice thought, the only problem being that he inserted the anniversary title and pretty picture of us on the space for july 8th. needless to say, we really only celebrate our wedding anniversary.
and while we've been wed only 2 years, we've been married for over 3 years, squeeze in there a 4 year old, a 2 year old and how long we actually dated and we've got ourselves one backward time-line! you do the math. "c'est ma vie." let me add in here for the record, not a recommended order of events. but i've long since digressed from my point . . .
so here* we are getting married, er, being wed, in sedona, arizona against the banks of oak creek with jonah as the best man and isaak as our ring bearer. not in all my adolescent years of fantasizing-ly planning my wedding day did i ever imagine myself with those guys in the wedding party, but neither could i have imagined that day as beautiful as it was in reality. mass chaos aside, it was the perfect wedding for us. we had "father sky as the roof of the most sacred cathedral, mother earth at our feet to hold us, and the trees and plants to surround us and embrace us". along with the native american flute for ambiance and a pack of unpaid javelinas making an appearance on the other side of the creek just as the ceremony was about to begin. that was a nice touch for our high desert country ceremony.
the following reception was equally as delicious with our passion for chocolate and mexican food as our "theme" and the autumnal equinox as our guide- this is the day that the day and night are equal in length symbolizing to us what our marriage should be- two people balancing out each other through sunshine and darkness.
happy anniversary, baby. you. complete. me. [snicker] but seriously.

Beautiful! I was too sad I was WAY south of the border on that date. Every picture I've seen is deliciously picturesque.
*I love how the calendar penned the anniversary on the wrong day ;)That conversation is usually how our engagement anniversary is spent :)*
there's a fine line between marriage date and wedding date. i'm lucky to keep track of one (and one year we even forgot that). and tanya adds in an engagement anniversary? stop the madness! :)
everything WAS beautiful and perfect for you guys! happy anniversary!
You have a way of putting things. Yes who would have ever thought that you would have your own children involved in the wedding, marriage, whatever. Yes, it was beautiful and perfect.
Oh, and by the way I would like to have a wedding, marriage picture, please.
Wait? Am I stupid? I don't get the wed vs. married. two vs three years. Oh well-- HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
anna- it is a little confusing. we were married in a courthouse in july 2005 and didn't have our wedding until sept 2006.
Happy Anniversary last week! ;-)
still wish we could have come!
