except for the time my friends and i had mock infatuations with the backstreet boys in college, i've never really been one for celebrity crushes. not even on brad pitt. nope, not a pitt groupie. well, maybe an itty bitty crush on robert downey jr., [especially during the ally mcbeal days] and i hold a special place in my heart for the fictional denny duquette [thanks to grey's season premier for twisting the knife] and aside from when i wished with every fiber of my being to be jewel [and still kinda do, minus the cowboy thing] so, whatever! my point is! . . . the old college pals showed up at my birthday party this year with tickets to see the new kids on the block and my imagination induced star struck awe was a little rusty. [i don't even remember liking them back in the day. what was i, 8 years old maybe?] but i've been in training for this now since july. i've been catching up with jordan's new moves on you tube, forcing myself to listen to the greatest hits while riding in the car [it's almost painful], setting the dvr to record their performance on the today show [definitely painful. really embarrassing- for them. like it wasn't bad enough when you guys were 14. you're adults now, for the love]. i think i'm in pretty good shape now for their concert tonight, though. [if i can manage to keep all of these parenthetical thoughts out of my head.] i'll do my best, girls, i'll do my best.
