me and the boys headed to the rim to spend the weekend with my mother and my sister's family. joe's gift to me [besides star trek, of course] was pretty much just total cooperation. it was kinda strange and admittedly much more difficult than buying flowers, writing a card, or making french toast.
when i flip-flopped on my decision to take the trip to Pine several times, he just rolled with it and didn't hardly complain about the 45 minutes i gave him to pack the car once i finally made a concrete decision.
nor did he say a word the next morning when i decided to get in the shower just as everybody was ready to leave for breakfast at a local cafe. he just took the kids, saved me a seat, and willingly relinquished his iced mocha at my request.
and he entertained the kids, letting them splash in the creek and taking them to the ice cream parlor for $3 scoops, while i paid the price for procrastination having to hibernate with his laptop for a few hours writing my paper for class.
and that night joe and justin cooked dinner for us over at my mom's house and even cleaned up afterward while the moms chatted and chased kids and dogs.
the little boys' gift to me was just plain ole existence and some hand-picked wildflowers. and that's all i need. thanks, boys!
it was truly a blissful day and i thank my lucky stars for everyday i get to spend with those two boys who made me a mother. and for a husband who supports me in staying at home to raise them even through the struggle.
xoxo
