i'm so glad that paris and jonah get to go to the same school this year. they're not in the same class, but they are right next door to each other. at least they know that somebody they love is just down the hall-the next best thing.
now that we've met the teacher, orientated, checked off our extensive school supply list, and acquired a few new duds, it was time for the real deal.
sara and i took the kids to "the big school" together-for moral support.
paris came in my front door screaming, "FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN! WHOO!"
and jonah was characteristically passive about the whole thing. not quite sure what he was in for, though he said he was excited. [period]
we walked them through the lifeless desert parking lot in the scorching heat as far as the teacher nazis would allow and waved goodbye.
maybe it was the heat, maybe it was my genes-instead of crying i found the nearest employee and let her know that i thought the drop-off system was flawed and i, of course, could have done it better. you know, us former teachers, but seriously. somewhere in my youth i guess i was taught that if you want to hide your true emotions you channel them into anger and that takes right care of them.
it wasn't until i got home and the house was so, so quiet that i let the real emotions overflow. i am pregnant after all.
when did my baby get old enough to go out into the big, bad world without me?
luckily, i've still got ikey who threw a 30-minute tantrum to fill the silence.

that gave me tender feelings and giggles all at one time.
"taught in your youth to hide your true emotions and channel them into anger..."??? i don't know what that means...
those pictures couldn't be cuter. no. they couldn't.
Super cute. I can't wait for Alma's school to start. I will definitely not be crying. More like pushing her out the door....
That's cool that they get to go to the same school and be buddies.
*TEAR* I KINDA LIKE THEM!
oh and ya i caught the "rolled her eye" comment EL OH EL!
what? i have no idea what you mean, sara. that was simply a typo.
Oh, man. Ry's school was MUCH more catered to the anxious parents of kindergartners: 1/2 day afternoon dropoff was a big photo op full of hugs, parents, & excited kids 'n siblings. It was really nice.
Thanks, Ike, for helping distract from the void :)
