dad threw a surprise party for karen's 50th birthday, although unfortunately it wasn't really a surprise and she was actually turning 51. it's not his fault though, really. he does have that defective Y chromosome making it nearly impossible to party plan. it turned out just as well and it was nice to gather, eat and allow our children to spit on cake.
