Ok, so maybe this week we'll stay below 90 degrees. So far, so good. We even had rain today. It was so refreshing to be able to keep the windows open and have a nice breeze through the house. I was incredibly jealous of Isaak this morning taking a little snooze all snuggled up on the couch next to the open window while it drizzled outside. Can you imagine how peaceful?

Yet, the rest of the day wasn't so peaceful. Just the usual whining and crying and destruction of things. By the time we got them to their beds, Jonah and Isaak were both crying and inconsolable because it was just way too past their bedtimes. Our usual story time was ineffective, the lullaby mix on the radio was not quite drowning them out, we were long out of threats, nothing was working and then . . . thunder.
We have a little family 'tradition' at our house when it's raining at night or we have just a lightning storm. We all pile up in the boys' bed, open the window and watch and listen to the lightning and thunder until we pass out. The window in the boys' room spans almost the entire length of the wall and it perfectly frames the bed so we can see almost nothing but sky when laying down. In Queen Creek, there are far less lights than the rest of the valley which makes for better sky watching at night.
So, we pulled open the curtains and miraculously they both settled in and watched and listened. Every lightning strike Jonah commented on it being the biggest one he ever saw. In between strikes we watched the small twinkle of lights fly by and debated whether it was just an airplane or a spaceship. It didn't take long though. Isaak was asleep within seconds it seemed. And one minute Jonah was talking and the next minute he was out. Just like magic.

I just want to snuggle right in there with Isaak.
See, you have traditions (even if they're not holiday). Don't go ruining everything and break them.
I'm right with you though, I love to watch a good lightning storm.
