We had a very pleasant Christmas Day. Jonah gifted us sleeping in until 8:30, then appeared from nowhere already sitting under the Christmas tree. Ikey was up earlier, but he's still young enough to not have caught on to the Christmas morning obnoxiousness yet. So, we got started at a decent hour with Bing Crosby in the background and the fire burning with a cup of hot chocolate in hand. The boys enjoyed each present, opening each one and playing with it for a while before moving onto the next. So, it took a while. Then for the grand finale, I asked Jonah to help me remove the gift wrap off the windows . . .
He was pleased with the tearing alone and then his gaze went past the window itself to the brand new playset in the backyard! He said Santa must have brought a trailer to bring that huge playground to him. After presents, we had "the best french toast ever" with fresh french bread, homemade buttermilk syrup and "snow" (powdered sugar). Just like my little elves like it. We really missed my Dad's traditional Christmas morning pancake breakfast. He bailed on us and went to China this year. What the? Do they even celebrate Christmas there? After breakfast the boys went to work putting the finishing touches on the playset. Santa also left some play power tools for the boys to help Daddy. And before we knew it, the afternoon was gone and it was time to head to Aunt Rachel's house for 'Roast Beast' with the family.
