[pre] school's out for summer

my son, the harmony farm graduate. now he can officially:

:: use the potty successfully, every time. this is something he only mastered once attending preschool and the peer pressure that coincides. much thanks to ms. heidi for taking him on anyway. not once did he have an accident while at school.

:: recognize letter sounds. his teacher does not teach the names of the letters only their sounds. and they only work with lower-case letters in this stage because they are the most commonly used. but thanks to leap frog and curious george, he does recognize most of his capital letters. this morning before he woke up he was yelling out, "does z start with zebra, mama?"

:: write his name, almost legibly. still working on the fine motor skills. he has also begun to color within the lines. again, that peer pressure kicking in.

:: add and subtract. jonah is counting everything all the time. for example, whenever one of us gets out of the car he likes to announce "now there are therdee* people in the car." or "i have one, two, therdee, four, five fingers on my foot!"

:: recite the whole pledge [the way he hears it anyway], the days of the week [minus wednesday. most people would've picked monday, but he's unique] and most of the months of the year.

he's growing up and learning lots, but not too much with plenty more to master. he is still only four afterall, and i appreciate that my kid is just keeping it real.

it was a bittersweet day as jonah said goodbye to the animals on the farm, his teachers, and his friends.

i love you jonah cakes, keep up the good work!

*this is jonah's pronunciation for three. perhaps with a scottish accent? don't look at me, i don't know where he picked that up.
