i'm bewitched, sirius-ly

that's the only way to explain it.

this is our new "real" dog, sirius*. jonah kept asking me when izzy was coming back from heaven. each time i had to explain to him about the one way ticket which he would follow up with, "now i'm never going to have another real dog!"

joe and i went on a date the other day and had to stop for gas on the way home. there was a family outside the station with a bunch of dogs they had rescued. i turned my nose up for a while, but then this little guy caught my eye. he wasn't barking, he wasn't nipping at anybody's legs, he wasn't even on a leash, he just laid there with sad eyes. that's when he cast me under his spell, i suspect.

i usually avoid these situations just for that reason. once i see them i want to take them home. then the woman from the rescue told me he had two brothers that were just adopted and he was the only one left out. and so it goes, i caved.

joe's been going on and on about the boys needing to grow up with a dog. and he had decided that "this was the dog for us". [i'm not sure what factors into that decision exactly.] so after a few days "discussion" he took the boys on a surprise trip today and brought home our newest addition to the family.

now the trick is to not regret it. i'm crossing my fingers. [or should i wiggle my nose?]


*named after "the dog star" or more fittingly one of the two hunting dogs belonging to orion [isaak's middle name].
